Self-Portraits of Motherhood – Month 2

Since moving to Colorado Springs, I have focused on photographing & filming my own family. I have been taking this time to study video & filmmaking so that when I’m ready to market & take on clients again, I will be prepared to take my business down that path. Self Portraits of Motherhood is a personal project I started in April.  I’ve been posting at least one photo per week of myself with one or more of my kiddos.  I have also been doing MOVING self-portraits of motherhood by getting in the frame in short films with my children. You can check out my VIMEO to find those. They are so precious to me & truly are my love letters to my children. I can’t wait to offer these to other Mamas out there when I’m ready! Here are the images I posted in my 2nd month of doing this personal project…

#5 – After a meal

Having twins means doing all the normal baby stuff x2.  Twice the diapers, twice the meals, twice the clean up.  Baby Reed loves hand washing time.  And I love doing it.

#6 – Sometimes it snows in May

Often, they get off the bus with their heavy coats packed in their backpacks & they choose to shiver as we walk home.  Brrrr.

#7 – He loves to invent games

He just turned 6 years old & he makes up games ALL. DAY. LONG.  I just play along & do as I’m told.  I love his spirit.

#8 – Running in circles

Sometimes, chasing toddler twins counts as my workout.

#9 – A little ride

We are so glad the snow finally melted.  I love these moments on a beautiful day with a beautiful backdrop & that adorable face!

#10 – Passing us by

What does one sacrifice when their life is held on pause for 10 years, while covered in snot, & while the rest of the World moves forward?  What does one gain?

#11 – The chair where I nursed 4 babies

I nursed all my babies well past their first year in this chair.  We didn’t intend to have 2 more.  What a lovely surprise & I was so glad we still had the nursery chair.

#12 – Listening

He tells amazing adventure stories.  His imagination is phenomenal.

#13 – No more tangles

She pretty much screams every time I brush her hair.  She doesn’t quite get the tangles all out herself yet.  One day, I know I will miss this.

#14 – Difficulty Focusing

It’s so hard to focus on little sleep.  There are so many lists that are never caught up on.

#15 – Slobber Kisses

Twin 16 month olds mean lots of open-mouthed kisses & drool!

At the end of life on Earth…this is what will have mattered.  You can’t go back and grab the joy from these moments if you miss them.
